The Aurora Australis

Tahu-nui-a-Rangi (Translates, "Great Glowing of the Sky") One of several local Maori words to describe the visual spectacle that is "The Southern Lights"

No photograph can truly recreate the experience of seeing the aurora in "full flight". The images here are but a static snapshot of what in reality can be a highly dynamic event. I hope you enjoy these photographs, and if you're ever visiting the South, keep your eyes gazed skyward - if you are lucky enough to see one of these events with your own eyes you will not be disappointed.
